Howard Leight Impact Sport Earmuff (Average Rating: 4.805) Not as effective at indoor range as 30db Peltor earmuffs (non-electronic) but worked OK. Will plan to use outdoor only for the time being. Not as easily adjusted at first but I expect will loosen up after some use. With or without the power, I didn't really notice much difference but didn't really try to carry on a conversation. I expect to see a difference when I take a 2-Day handgun class in a month or so. - Mike

I had two pairs of Peltor 6S that apparently has shorted out after serving me for 2+ years. I suspect it was moisture from sweat. One of them has this squealing noise, and one has stopped filtering loud noises. Changing batteries doesn't help.
Biggest advantages I've noticed over Peltor 6s:
only requires 2xAAA, peltor requires 4xAAA
350 hours vs 200 hours of battery life
automatic shut off, Peltor doesnt have this, I've killed several batteries
external battery compartment, peltors you have to take apart the internal of the muffs
slimmer profile
more comfortable headband and muff material
external audio plug for music players
Olive Drab color - more tacticool
FAR superior to Peltor 6S electronic muffs |

They work as advertised. I am a small arms instructor in the Army and used them while firing a variety of small arms. I did not try them with the M2 so I can't say if you would need additional ear protection with that weapon. |

I have a hearing loss and have a problem wearing my hearing aids and using conventional hearing protection muffs. These Howard Leight Earmuffs are perfect for allowing normal conversation without removing the muffs and giving protection when the need arises during shooting. Love 'em ! |

I bought this Howard Leight earmuff for use at indoor and outdoor shooting ranges when shooting my handguns. It has done the job well. I can hear conversations well and it protects my hearing when guns are being fired. A lot of bang for the buck. |

Excellent for the money and the only thing I would do is purchase a better connector to use with your audio equipment the cable they include is a little cheap but works fine but can get some interference if around other equipment. I bought them for the gun range and they are working perfect I can hear the instructors and not the bangs so I gave it 5 stars. |

I have used the product one time so far. It has worked well as advertised. I have used Peltor electronic earmuffs and they cannot be beat but for the money the Howard Leight sport earmuffs are great. They fold up pretty small are are fairly comfortable to wear. The only thing I did not like were the directions or lack of them on how to remove the battery compartment cover. I figured it out but was afraid I'd break the cover prying it off but did not. Thus far, I'm very happy with them. |

This earmuff amplifies ambient sounds allowing me to hear noises and voices around me yet squelches louder noises such as someone using compressed shop air. Just the ticket for my needs. These work great (intended use) at the range as well. The audio jack is a welcome feature the boosts the functionality. Just a little quibble- they make slight static noise when working on my laptop. Yes, I would definitely recommend them and buy them again. |

I am a military shooting instructor, I am on the range for a living all day every day for two weeks at a pop. I use these, as do all of my teammates. These are outstanding. My only gripe, is that I wish they made the ear muff piece that seals them up to your head out of something other than whatever plastic material it is these are made out of. When it's hot outside the sweat tends to build up under there. I wish they used some sort of terri cloth that i could take off and wash, or exchange. The only time these ear muffs didn't work all that great was when I was on the .50 cal machine gun range. I had to wear a pair of roll up ear plugs underneath. But for rifle and pistol fire, these can't be beat. Keep some spare batteries around if you use them like I do. I change out batteries after every two weeks. As the battery declines so too does the performance. |

They are very comfortable given their low profile. A great shooter's ear muff. |

I definitely recommend this product. The ear cups are shallow/low profile which is great for shotgunners and rifle shooting, but a little uncomfortable if one has larger ears. Otherwise, they work as advertised. |

The padded surface of the earmuff is quite comfortable, though the spring steel headband exerts a fair amount of pressure which could be uncomfortable over time. The earmuff does a good job dampening loud sound, while the amplification allows you to hear sounds such as voices clearly and even more loudly than without the earmuffs if desired. When plugged into an audio source, the volume increases the ambient sound and the audio source simultaneously. My goal was to reduce the volume of amplified music in my environment, and this earmuff seems to do the job admirably. I also appreciate the low profile, comparatively low cost, and automatic shutoff to save batteries. |

Balancing value with performance I give this product 5 stars. Worked for 34 years in law enforcement and qualified each time with department supplied hearing protection. Now retired and decided to make the move to electronic protection. Why didn't I do this 38 years ago? Protects your hearing but allows you to hear the world in an un-muffled state. Recommend this product. |

the product performed as advertised. The noise reduction is a significant improvement over the ear plugs I previously used. The only reason i did not rate the product a 5 is because the stock of my shotgun bumps up against the side of the earmuff. I am sure with use I can make an adjustment in stock mounting. My hearing is most important. I would recommend these. |

best product at any price works great for construction and outdoor activitys. being able to hear your buddy from across the field while hunting and others around you while still having great hearing protection is great! plus you can plug in your iPod or 2 way radio. Everyone should own these! I will be purchasing several more for my family. Save a lot of money and purchase these instead of units costing 2-3 times more I don't see how other brands could work any better. Excellent company to purchase from and they also had the best price out there. Thanks

I have used these twice now for hunting. They work great. I had a hat and hood on over them (below zero). Like anything like this they get a little uncomfortable after a while but still are better than the Walker's Game Ear I was using. I can tell where the sound is coming from. They cut out loud noise perfectly. I don't worry about them falling out in the woods (like an in the ear type). Can't beat the price and the quality. I hope they keep working, time will tell. |

I was skeptical about the ability for an earmuff of this price to perform well. I finally caved in and am surprised and very pleased with them. Noise reduction is as expected, and their ability to amplify ambient sound is very good. If you are on the fence about buying (as I was), go ahead and give them a try. |
