UV EXPOSURE HEALTH RISKS
Non-melanoma is the most common form of skin cancer and has been linked to long periods of sun exposure.  This is a less life-threatening skin cancer and can be treated if found early.  A more malignant version is melanoma, which appears to be link to high does of UV rays over the course of many years.  Of course, other factors in a person's lifestyle factor into it, however, there are more reported cases of melanoma in people who have lived in Florida than those living in Washington.  Premature aging of the skin can also occur from long exposure to UV rays.  Long exposure from tanning beds can also aid to development of either melanoma or premature aging of the skin.

UV EXPOSURE SAFETY TIP
Using the proper sunscreen protection is essential to help reduce the risk of skin caner for people who spend a lot of time outdoors, burn easily and have any of the following:

  • Large moles, and many of them
  • Fair skin
  • Freckles
  • Red, blond or light brown hair

HOW OFTEN TO APPLY SUNSCREEN
Sun X Sunscreen should be applied to the skin for those who are exposed to the sun everyday.  Apply sunscreen to the skin approximately 15 to 30 before sun exposure.  Make sure and apply sunscreen to the face, neck, ears, hands and arms.  Most people only apply 30-50% of the recommend amount.  Sunscreen should then be reapplied to the skin every two hours or after swimming.  Water-resistant sunscreens can loose their effectiveness after 40 consecutive minutes of being in the water.

WHAT IS SPF?
Sun Protection Factor.  Sun X Sunscreen is rated in strength of SPF and can range from as low as 2 to larger than 50.  The greater the SPF number, the longer it will take a person to burn in the sun. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends that, regardless of skin type, a broad-spectrum (protects against UVA and UVB rays), water-resistant sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of at least 30 should be used year-round.

Protect your skin today.  Whether you are a construction worker or going water skiing, Sun X Sunscreen will certainly protect your skin from harmful UV rays!
