It is extremely important to select the correct weldiers gloves for your application. How the gloves are cut determine the quality. Economy welders gloves are generally made of medium to heavy-weight shoulder leather. Premium welders gloves are made with thick side leather. Gloves for MIG/TIG welding are cut from the thinner, softer grain leather and offer superior dexterity.

The type of leather makes a difference as well. Cowhide is tough and durable with good electrical resistance when dry. Calfskin provides more dexterity than cowhide, but is not as tough. Pigskin is flexible, oil resistant and quick-drying. Goatskin is durable, yet lightweight for good touch sensitivity. Deerskin is much thinner, and therefor not as tough, but it provides excellent dexterity.

Next, choose a lining. There are welders gloves with no lining for extra dexterity, or lined with various materials for better protection. Our insulated gloves come in Jersey knit, wool, or Thermosock lining. Kevlar stitching is standard on most welding gloves for maximum heat resistance.

According to ANSI Z49.1.88-Welding and Cutting (4,3) all welders and cutters are required to wear protective flame resistant gloves which provide the needed heat resistance.
