The 3M Powerflow respirator is a lightweight, face-mounted Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR). It uses a single high efficiency filter for protection against dusts, mists, fumes and radionuclides, making it ideal for lead, asbestos and other hazardous particulates.

The 3M™ Powerflow™ System delivers a minimum of 4cfm when used with the filter. It uses the popular 6000 Series facepiece and its face shield meets impact and penetration requirements of ANSI Z87.1-2003.

The complete PAPR system includes:
  • Full facepiece DIN respirator
  • Motor blower unit
  • BP-17IS NiCd Intrinsically Safe Battery pack (BC-210 battery charger no longer manufactured)
  • Flow meter
  • High efficiency filter
  • Ideal for asbestos, lead and other hazardous particulate environments.
  • Can be used in environments with particulate contaminants such as dusts, mists, fumes and radionuclides.
  • Self contained unit with battery worn on the waist.

  • The PowerflowTM PAPR with BP-17IS battery pack has been tested and classified for intrinsic safety by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) for use in the following Division I locations: Class I, Group D; Class II, Groups E, F, G and Class III.

I work in asbestos abatement/removal and my grandfather died of silicosis, so respiratory health is very important to me. 3M has outdone themselves with the Powerflow: the filter works great and lasts a long time and the whole unit is lightweight and comfortable. Highly recommended! (Posted on 12/12/2017)

It is very helpful at work - much nicer than just a disposable respirator. Provides more protection as well. (Posted on 5/26/2014)

The Powerflow is a solid, affordable alternative to the significantly more expensive PAPR systems out there. There are some issues, notably three. They stem from the position of the air intake/filter assembly. First, is that it's very easy to accidentally cut off your airflow with a wayward movement of the arm. Even though the blockage is short-lived, it's still an unpleasant and startling surprise. My crew took a while to get used to keeping their arms well away from the small intake hole. Second, the assembly protruding like it does is pretty cumbersome. After an hour of continuous usage, your neck really starts to feel the extra weight. Last is related to our work, since it generates a good amount of heat when working in tight areas. The heat reflected off surfaces we're coating in semi-enclosed spots is blown directly onto the applicator's face. A unit attached at the back would obviously mitigate the problem, but you get what you pay for. And thus far, despite the small problems, I'm happy with my purchase. Battery life is good; assembly, operation, and maintenance is simple; and the unit held up well in a relatively harsh working environment. The Powerflow seems to be well suited to lighter work, although it's no long-term replacement for the more advanced PAPR systems. (Posted on 1/23/2012)

Easy to use. Using it for mold remediation, including sparaying cleaning chemicals. Motor did die after 1 year of use. It was cheaper to order a new kit than to order a new motor and backup battery. (Posted on 9/27/2011)

First, Enviro sells you the complete respirator system not just part of the system like so many of the other retailers do. Most of the online retailers advertise the respirator at higher prices and then make you buy the filters. blower, and battery separate making the system cost up to $649.00.
Second this 3M system if very comfortable as far as respirators go. I just used this on a 94 degree day and the cool air supplied to the face was quiet pleasant, and made for very easy breathing. (Posted on 9/6/2011)

These are GREAT respirators! We use them for mold removal in crawl spaces using dry ice blasting. The only problem we have had is the power cord plug connection. It is a weak link in the system. We sent ours back for repair after experiencing problems with it for months. Wire cord breaks internally. Neal (Posted on 3/23/2010)

The 3M Powerflow PAPR system works great. My Lab Techs and I love them. The only con is that power cord connection to the battery. The streight cord is acceptable to breaks in the wire. We fixed by using a rubberband. (Posted on 1/21/2010)
