Wearable and Durable Disposable Coveralls

A coverall needs to be wearable and durable in 2021, without compromising barrier quality. For years, the DuPont Tyvek product has set the highest standard of service for protective clothing. When choosing coveralls for your application, consider one of two scenarios: controlled environments and general protection.

In a controlled environment, like a pharmaceutical lab, micro-electronics development space or other cleanroom, the hazard is the contaminants that the person is bringing in. But in a general protection application, like an asbestos abatement site or mold remediation project, you have an environment that is itself contaminated due to the presence of hazardous substances, fumes, or chemicals. Both workplaces call for a full-body product and, depending on the need, perhaps the option of hood, boots, gloves or elastic wrists and ankles.

Tyvek Technology

Coveralls, and other protective clothing, often have a protection/comfort tradeoff. More protection can correlate with less comfort. Employers should consider how much comfort the workers want but they should purchase whichever protective products are actually needed. Think about: What hazards, chemicals and exposures will workers face? Do they need a hood or boots? DuPont Tyvek is an industry-leading line of products, including: a single-use coverall, a limited-use coverall and reusable coveralls. Easy to understand! A single-use coverall should be worn once and has the lowest price. A limit-use coverall can be worn multiple times and has a slightly higher price. Reusable coveralls can be worn many times more and have a higher price. Each coverall provides optional hood, gloves, boots and elastic wrist or ankle closures. We offer each customer what's best for them and we account for the option of hood and boots. Just add to cart!

Coverall Classifications

Coverall permeation (substances going through the protective material at a molecular level) uses Class 1-6. Coverall penetration and repellency (substances going through the material as particles, and the material’s ability to prevent it) uses Class 1-3. NOTE with these tools: We can help you get all the information you need, call and talk with a product specialist.

Tyvek Makes A Difference

All suits may look the same, but only DuPont Tyvek excels where you need it most–on the job. DuPont Tyvek offers an unrivaled product, best-in-class breathability and excellent durability.

Tychem Makes A Barrier

Then, DuPont Tychem upgrades the barrier again chemical dangers including light liquid splashes, industrial chemicals, radioactive environments and chemical warfare agents. Workers can feel confident wearing Dupont Tychem suits to help finish the job and keep safe.

A Potent Defense

In 2021, the use of fentanyl and other opioids leads to many dangers for law enforcement and emergency medical personnel. DuPont Tyvek and DuPont Tychem offer several protective products for risk of exposure to synthetic opioids.

Hazmat Classification

When it comes to hazardous materials (“hazmat”), there's a rating system in our country to indicate what suit is appropriate per application. Please see the following information.

Level A

Level A is a fully encapsulated protective suit and hood, the highest protection. A self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is necessary, along with chemical-resistant gloves and boots, and a radio communication system in team contexts. Level A is utilized when severe hazmat presence is confirmed, requiring protection against chemicals, particulate and vapors.

Level B

Level B has similar chemical protection, but does not shield against vapors. Used when high-risk material is present, but skin does not need to be highly protected. An SCBA is still required, with protective gloves and boots and a communication system.

Level C

Level C is commonly used where contact with site materials will not affect the skin. This requires a full-face respirator (not necessarily SCBA) with chemical-resistant boots and gloves.

Level D

Level D is often used at construction sites. A basic work uniform or coverall with gloves and boots qualifies.

Tyvek Advantage

DuPont Tyvek is a balance of comfort and durability, plus a fabric that helps protect from lead, asbestos, mold and other harmful substances. The flashspun polyethylene fabric is nearly impossible to tear. The barrier is a labyrinthine of fibers to prevent particles as small as 0.5 microns while letting the garment breathe. Dupont Tyvek peaks in overall performance versus other suits that use microporous film which technically has a higher particle and liquid barrier rating, but it can be abraded and scraped off (even by a fingernail), diminishing their coverall in a high-risk setting. Tyvek Coveralls: Uses & Applications

Dupont Tyvek garments are often used by these affiliates:

  • Construction
  • Painting
  • Clean rooms
  • Insulation
  • Mold Remediation

NOTE: DuPont Tyvek coveralls have limited chemical resistance. If you work with chemicals, try DuPont Tychem garments.

Tychem Advantage

DuPont Tychem goes to a new level because the garments are designed to address a broader list of hazards, including pressurized chemicals and extremely dangerous infective agents. It's the garment of choice for a customer who operates in a region with chemical weapons or dangerous spills. DuPont Tychem is tested for permeation, whether liquids or vapors are absorbed at the molecular level due to prolonged exposure. Each piece of related worker feedback has been considered. One product issue to address was discomfort and the fabric bunching when a wearer stretches or bends. So the joints and hood are designed to bend with the natural contours of the body, this makes the products more comfortable without sacrificing safety.

SMS

Spunbond Meltblown Spunbond (SMS) fabric is a non-woven trilaminate material made of two layers of spunbond polypropylene, thermally bonded (meltblown) together with a perforated poly membrane. In the particle and liquid protection categories, its rating is lower than Dupont's Tyvek. But where SMS excels is in comfort and wearability, so it can be used in low-risk applications that require light protection.

Other Information

Each customer should consider different details when shopping for a product. Please remember, before you add to cart, checkout or place your order, some Dupont garments include a hood or boots or elastic wrists/ankles to prevent liquid from entering. Others garments do not have a hood or boots or elastic closures. Seams may be serged, bound, taped, or a combination of the three.
