C-Chemical B-Biological R-Radiological N-Nuclear Warfare
A CBRN PAPR is used as a defense in the result of a chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear warfare attack. The CBRN unit offers passive protection, contamition avoidance, and mitigation. In the United States there is a whole department within FEMA called the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Office, that oversees our CBRN response. Even in peactime the department handles these situations, that can range from mass destruction incidents, to spills or fires involving HAZMATs, to accidents involving radiological/nuclear materials.
