I just had cervical spine surgery and was concerned that the weight would make it impossible to wear, but having only one lung and COPD in that, I either find something that works or give up woodworking. After charging the battery for 14 hours (come on now. You can do better than that!) I jointed and edge routed 24 lineal feet of yellow pine. I smelled nothing and had no problem breathing. I wore the Trend the whole time I was in the shop and weight and comfort was NOT a problem. Neither were noise nor fogging. My only gripes are the long charge time, and the same concerens as others over the somewhat flimsy catches on the sides. However, it WORKS, I can wear it as long as the battery holds out (which is as long as I can hold out), and used carefully and maintained properly I think it is an Excellent product and a reasonable price given the other choices out there and my Absolute need for something that will keep me alive in the shop. BTW, the battery is not too hard for me to remove or replace and I'm clumsy. (Posted on 5/15/2010)

When i got it working I found it functionally very good. Does not fog and keeps you cool. I have some old age arthritis in my neck and the shield did not aggrivate this, although I only use in short bursts. There are some 'production' quality details that could be improved, accessing the battery pack - noting this needs be done frequently -is not easy and I would be concerned some of the plastic interfaces will quickly deteriorate and lead to the top filter shield parting from the main shield. Also the forward padded piece that sits on the forehead jams into the shield when operating and makes it a bit difficult to easily place on head. (Posted on 1/20/2009)

Little on heavy side. Battery has to be removed to recharge, they should make it able to recharge while in the unit. Did not fog up . Kept my face cool. Filtered dust well. (Posted on 1/19/2009)

Not a bad powered respirator unit for the money. Yes it could be better designed. However, compared to the price of other PAPR systems, the Trend Airshield is fine. Much better than the Triton unit that is now in my garbage can. (Posted on 2/25/2008)

I was a little worried after reading some reviews regarding the weight of the Trend Airshield respirator. Yes I am a hobbyist, but I am more than happy with the unit. It sure beats sucking sawdust all day! A great value for the dollar. My only complaint is that is take so long to charge the battery so I now have two so that I always have a fresh one. As a professional wood turner I can not wear the Trend Airshield for 8 hours a day due to its weight. I guess if I only used it occasionally it would be ok. I now have bought the 3M Airstream, a professional powered respirator (PAPR) that is light, blows more air, and is durable. I shouldn't have tried to skimp the first time. As with almost everything, you get what you pay for. (Posted on 2/25/2008)
